The latest employment statistics show that there were 4,428 total workers on the Site C project in December 2020. Of the total workers, 3,173 were from British Columbia, or 72%. There were 880 workers on site from the Peace River Regional District — that’s 24% of the construction and non-construction contractor’s workforce.
At our Site C project near Fort St. John, a dam and generating station aren’t the only structures being built. We’re also building around 40 new eagle nesting platforms near the shoreline of the future reservoir. The nesting platforms will provide additional nesting options for bald eagles in the area. Our crews have built similar structures for other birds of prey, including ospreys, in other communities across the province.
BC Hydro has been notified of three positive COVID-19 cases related to people working on the Site C project.
This week, BC Hydro will begin construction of a 2.6-kilometre-long berm along the shore of Hudson's Hope.
