BC Hydro has selected Two Rivers Lodging Group as the preferred proponent for the Site C worker accommodation contract as part of the competitive selection process for the design, construction, partial financing, operation and maintenance of worker accommodation at the Site C dam site.
Like BC Hydro's other large hydroelectric facilities, the cost advantages of Site C will grow over time, resulting in significant benefits to ratepayers, compared to alternatives.
Premier Christy Clark announced today the Province has approved the Site C Clean Energy Project, concluding it will provide British Columbia with the most affordable, reliable clean power for over 100 years.
Site C would provide clean and renewable electricity to meet a 40% increase in long-term demand in B.C.
Site C would be cost-effective and would result in lower costs to ratepayers compared to alternatives.
More than 99 per cent of Class 1 to 5 agricultural land in the Peace Agricultural Region would not be affected by Site C. Approximately 2.6 million hectares would remain available for agricultural production in the region, while approximately 3,800 hectares would be unavailable.
