Funding for developing new or enhancing existing recreation sites along the Site C Reservoir.

The Community Recreation Site Fund was established by BC Hydro to mitigate impacts of the Site C Clean Energy Project on recreation sites along the Peace River and its tributaries, outside the dam site and reservoir area.

Eligible non-profit recreation groups, local governments, and Indigenous Nations can apply for up to $50,000 per site to create new or enhance existing recreation sites.

Projects may include amenities such as cleared areas for camping, fire pits, picnic tables, or outdoor washrooms.

Applications will be accepted from March 15 to October 15, 2025.

Applicants must be based in the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and fall under one of the following categories:

  • Indigenous Nations,
  • Municipal or regional governments, and
  • Non-profit organizations

Applicants must submit separate applications for each project site. An application with multiple sites will not be accepted.

To be successful, applicants must:

  • Provide all required authorizations when submitting their application.
  • Projects that do not require governance (e.g., certain upgrades to existing recreation sites) are exempt from this requirement.
  • All other projects must attach the necessary documentation and if available, include letters of support to their application.
  • Applications requiring authorizations but failed to include them in the application will be deemed incomplete.

Applications will be accepted from March 15 to October 15, 2025.

  2. Gather all supporting documentation.
  3. Submit your completed application package and supporting documentation by email to CommunityRecSite@bchydro.com with the Subject Line indicating the “Name of Your Project - 2025 Intake”.

Applications are reviewed and funding decisions are made continuously throughout the application window, you can apply anytime within the specified period.
