Since construction started in July 2015, Site C has been creating jobs for British Columbians. In the coming months and years, many more jobs will be created as main civil works construction activities increase, and as major contracts get underway for turbines and generators, transmission and the generating station and spillways.

Workers who live in Fort St. John will not be required to stay at the worker accommodation lodge at the dam site. Parking will be available for local workers at the dam site as well as a park and ride for commuter vehicles and a bus drop off area.

BC Hydro has published a Construction Schedule that illustrates the anticipated sequence of construction activities. In addition, the Site C project team will continue to issue regular construction updates by email throughout the construction period. We encourage you to sign up to receive construction updates to stay informed about upcoming work.

Hiring for the Site C project is being done by the companies awarded contracts to build Site C. While contractors are doing their own employee recruitment, BC Hydro is facilitating hiring by listing the successful contractors in the Job Opportunities section of the website, along with their contact information. We encourage you to send your resume to these companies.

Yes. A 1,600-person worker accommodation lodge has been built.

The Site C lodge features single-occupancy bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, television and Wi-Fi services. Workers have access to a movie theatre, spiritual centre, hair salon, coffee shop, games room, convenience store, a full gym with fitness classes and personal training programs, and a managed lounge. In addition, the lodge has its own health clinic which provides Site C workers with access to primary and preventative health care, along with work-related injury evaluation and treatment.

Yes. Site C is creating valuable training and apprenticeship opportunities for young workers and persons new to the trades. It is estimated that about half of Site C’s anticipated workforce will consist of apprenticeable trades.

BC Hydro has included apprenticeship targets in several contracts, including the main civil works, generating station and spillways civil works, the transmission lines and substation contracts.
