BC Hydro’s GO Fund assists Peace Region non-profits

FORT ST. JOHN: BC Hydro is contributing $12,500 to support two Peace Region non-profit groups through the Site C project’s Generate Opportunities (GO) Fund.

The award recipients provide health and wellness support for expectant and new parents in Chetwynd, and community outreach programs for Fort St. John’s low-income population.

Recipients receiving the grants include:

  • Tansi Friendship Centre Society: $7,500 for a biweekly support group program for expectant mothers and new parents. This is the fourth grant the Tansi Friendship Centre Society has received through BC Hydro’s GO Fund.
  • Fort St. John’s Women’s Resource Centre: $5,000 to fund staffing for the centre’s Outreach Store, which provides free food, clothing, household necessities, hygiene products, and other essential items for women, children, and men in need. This is the fourth grant the centre has received through BC Hydro’s GO Fund.

To date, 63 projects have received $552,566 from the $800,000 fund, which was established in September 2016 to support non-profit organizations in the north and south Peace Region throughout construction of Site C.

Applications for funding are accepted on an ongoing basis and funds are distributed quarterly. For more information on the fund, including past recipients and application details, please visit sitecproject.com/gofund.
