VANCOUVER – BC Hydro posted a Request for Proposals (RFP) on BC Bid for the construction of two new transmission lines for the Site C Clean Energy Project.

The provincial government has referred the Site C project to the BC Utilities Commission for review. While this review is underway, project construction will continue and procurement opportunities will be posted to BC Bid to maintain the project schedule.

Requests for Proposals do not create a binding contractual commitment. Contractual commitment occurs at the time of contract award, which would occur in late 2017 pending the government’s decision on the project. Payment will be made to the contractor over the term of the contract.

The scope of the contract will include construction of two 75-kilometre, 500-kilovolt transmission lines along an existing right-of-way between the Site C project and the Peace Canyon Generating Station. This will include foundation installation, tower assembly and conductor stringing. A mandatory helical pile foundation alternative will also be required as part of the bid submission.

BC Hydro will arrange a bidder information meeting. More information about the meeting and the RFP can be found on BC Bid at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca, solicitation number 8186. The RFP will close Nov. 9, 2017.

The Site C Clean Energy Project is a hydroelectric dam and generating station under construction in northeast B.C.
